The girl is introduced as Mikanagi Chiyako and says that 6 more ghosts are living with her, and 7 total girls, whose ghosts linger in the mortal world due to strong emotions, because of passing, and all of them are stuck in the same body.
As per Murasaki, ghosts only occur in the world for 49 days, it means there are only 7 days left for every ghost girl. To ensure that the girls go to heaven, there is a need of lingering in the world that must be fulfilled in less time, and the task shifted to Shuuichi.
